Cottesloe Surf Spots
The Groyne
Surfing in Cottesloe takes place mainly around the iconic groyne. Waves break off both sides of the groyne with the Left working best in bigger South West swells. The groyne gives some protection from dreaded Summer Southerlies. In Summer months there is a shark net stretching from the groyne to the pylon to create a safe swimming area. The net is taken down in Winter so surfers can surf the break. Keep an eye on the Pylon for a sneaky wave.
The Cove & Seconds
On the Southern side of the Groyne in front of the carpark are a pair of waves. The Cove is the mellow right hander breaking off the reef rock shelf and Seconds is the hollower left hander. Super shallow.
Isolators
Further South, Isolators is a mellow left right wave breaking over a reef that is favoured by longboarders. Long rides on the right right onto the reef. In the past, the break was called 'isolated' as there was hardly anyone there. Those days are long gone.
