Scarborough Surf Spots

Situated further North than neighbouring Cottesloe, Scarborough gets more SW swell exposure than neighbouring Cottesloe. During Winter the main beach at Scarbs can turn on with small rippable waves but most of the time they will be closing out. If it gets too crowded, you can venture down to Brighton beach which is usually quieter.

Further North, Trigg beach is probably the best of the Perth metro surf breaks. It has consistent beach break waves and on the right side is Trigg Point a long right hander breaking over rocks and sand. Since there aren't many other waves around, this spot can get super "heated" when it's good.

A short drive North from Triggs is Mettam's pool where the reefs form a natural lagoon. The wave breaks over the reef and is best during Winter as it is mostly be flat in Summer.

Things to do in Scarborough

Scarborough is one of Perth's most popular beaches and there is a well developed esplanade with an outdoor heated public pool, a shaded amphitheatre leading down to the sand and Sunset Hill the large grassy area ideal for picnics and chilling. Groms young and old can drop in at the Snake Pit skate bowl located on the esplanade.

Tjunta Trail is an exploratory walk along the esplanade based on an Aboriginal dream time sotry which takes you to different installations. At the beginning of the trail, kids will love Whale playground, a set of climbing structures, play equipment and swings modelled after the remains of a whale.

Every Thursday evening in Summer, the Scarborough Sunset Markets hosts a number of food trucks, artisan retailers and second hand stalls. There are also live music performances at the amphitheatre and DJs spinning tunes at the Snake Pit skate bowl.

Best places for a surf check coffee would be Canteen in Trigg and Yelo with the ocean views. For fish and chips by the sea head to the old school Peter's By the Sea and Trigg Canteen.
